NetMail is a free e-mail service for network users, using an ActiveSync server and a Windows mail client. If you are familiar with Microsoft Outlook, you will find that NetMail's interface looks remarkably similar. There are similarities to other free e-mail services such as Yahoo Mail or Gmail. These services provide account management, calendar storage, and some basic message reading features. However, there are a number of differences between these services and the one that are offered by Microsoft:
First, NetMail offers two different options for adding contacts to your network. The free version allows you to add friends and send free text and picture mail, while the commercial version has more advanced features such as password protection and the ability to download and save your email messages onto your computer. With the commercial service you also have the option of importing external data files, such as your Windows Live ID or Outlook data. You also have the ability to manage multiple mailboxes, view your email list and search for contacts with wildcards. Importing your Outlook data is not supported by the free version of NetMail, and if you want to use this feature you will need to purchase the software.
Importing your Gmail, Hotmail or Yahoo messages into NetMail is easy; all you need to do is download the MSN or Yahoo app from the Microsoft Store and install it on your PC. Then visit the NetMail home page and follow the instructions displayed. Finally, set up your own free email address, which you will use to sign in to the NetMail server and download your MSN or Yahoo emails. MSN and Yahoo are the standard gateways for Microsoft Outlook users.
